I Do Have a Wild Side

If you ask any of my friends about me, most of them would probably say that I’m a fairly conservative person. While I could try to argue with them, the truth is that I am a pretty conservative type of girl. Although I don’t think there is anything wrong with being conservative (in all honesty, I think that a lot of people could benefit from a stout dose of conservatism), I don’t want that to be what I am always known for being. I know that people don’t think I’m boring right now, but I’m afraid that if I don’t add a little excitement to my life, things could eventually get to that point.

To prove to myself that I can take risks, I did something a little crazy recently. I decided to go out and get a belly button piercing. Not only did I get it pierced, but I also bought some really flashy pieces of body piercing jewelry. When I first showed it to me friends, they thought it was fake. However, now that they know it’s real, they all think it was really cool of me to go out and get this piercing done!

Okay, So Maybe I Am a Little Rebellious

Although I’m not one of those people who goes out of my way to act rebellious, I guess that I have to admit that I do have some rebellious tendencies. As I said, I don’t actually try to act rebellious for attention or anything else, but I do think that you could label a lot of my actions as rebellious.

A good example of this would be when I recently decided to get my lip pierced. My family is very conservative, so they do not approve of any type of body piercing jewelry. Although they let me get a single piercing in each of my ear lobes when I was a little girl, they don’t even like it when I wear crazy earrings (they prefer simple pieces, such as diamond studs). So, as you can imagine, they weren’t too pleased when I got my lip pierced. However, this is a piercing that I have liked for quite some time, and since I’m old enough to make my own decisions, I decided to get it done. I know that I won’t wear this piercing forever, but I’m going to enjoy wearing it while I’m still young.

Do You Want to Know What My Mom Thinks of My Body Piercing Jewelry?

About six months ago, I decided that I was going to get my lip pierced. Several of my friends have their lips pierced, and I had always thought that it looked really cool. Unfortunately, even though I had wanted a lip piercing for awhile, I was under eighteen, so I couldn’t get it done. However, when I turned eighteen about six months ago, I decided it was time to get it done.

When I came home with a piece of body piercing jewelry in my lip, my Mom was anything but happy. I had asked her about her thoughts on body piercing jewelry several times before, and she had always said that she did not like it or approve of it. So, you can imagine that when her son came home with his very own piece of body piercing jewelry, she was not exactly thrilled.

However, I am happy to say that over the last six months, my Mom has become much more comfortable with my body piercing jewelry. Although she would still prefer if I didn’t wear it, she has at least come to terms with me having it on.
